Water and Weight Loss Are Related

You may be surprised to learn that one of the best "dietary supplements" is a simple, freely available substance (in most of the US and Europe, anyway). It covers over two thirds of the earth's surface and makes up 70% of our bodies. Of course, this substance is water--the true elixir of life, of youth, and of weight loss.
Water Helps Weight Loss
Drinking enough water has an undeniable effect on the amount of weight you lose during the course of a diet and exercise regimen. First of all, not drinking enough water is one of the main reasons that people overeat.
Most people can't tell the difference between being hungry and being thirsty. Symptoms that we associate with thirst, such as a dry mouth, panting, and an inability to sweat are, in fact, symptoms of dehydration. We start feeling the urge to drink water long before we reach that point. However, many people mistake that urge for hunger.
Gulping down a big glass of water instead of snacking in the middle of the day can produce a powerful effect on weight loss.
What's more, water fills the stomach and suppresses the appetite. If you're hungry but want to hold out until dinner, water is your salvation. Additionally, drinking enough water can increase your metabolism and increase your energy.
Your liver is responsible for turning fat into energy and water is an essential part of that process. Water also helps your kidneys rid the body of toxins. When you drink enough water, your liver and kidneys' cleansing job is made easier. This lets the liver turn your fat into energy faster.
How much water is enough for Weight Loss?
You should drink at least 64 ounces of water a day (8 glasses of 8 oz. of purified water) If you are overweight you should drink an additional glass for each 25 pounds of excess weight.
Make your water nice and cold. It will be absorbed into your system and some evidence suggests that drinking cold water helps burn calories.
Here is a good schedule during weight loss for water consumption.
Morning: Drink one quart over a 30 minute time period
Noon: Drink one quart over a 30 minute time period.
Evening: Drink one quart between 5:00 and 6:00.
After you have lost your weight and you're maintaining it, use this formula to determine how much water you should be drinking.
Body weight in pounds divided by 25 = number of 8 oz. glasses of water you need to drink a day.
Finally, don't drink too many beverages that dehydrate instead of quench your thirst, such as coffee (caffeine) and beer (alcohol). Other than maybe sparkling or carbonated water, no other drinking fluid is an effective substitute for clean, clear, pure water. Drinking plenty of water and weight loss are absolutely related, so bottoms up!
